FROM OUR BLOG
Why I spent 5 months in the small, not even really pretty village Taganga and just could not leave and what I did in the whole time here, I will tell you now. It is not the first time for me in Colombia and also not in Taganga. I was already in Colombia in 2021 […]
I remember my first night dive. The sun had set and darkness was falling. Butterflies in my stomach reminded me that this was not a normal dive. What would I see? I had my gear strapped on, and the unfamiliar flashlight around my wrist. Trepidation hit as we walked into the darkness of the water. […]
Definitely not Taganga! Taganga is a rising star for diving and tourism. So, where is Taganga? It is located by the Caribbean coast and 15 min (5 km) away from Santa Marta. Also, it’s near Tayrona National Park. More than 4,000 people live in Taganga. In Tayrona National Park, there are wonderful diving spots. But, […]
Have you ever considered scuba diving, but the idea terrifies you? Do you worry that you aren’t the best swimmer, and don’t feel comfortable jumping into the deep end (puns fully intended)? Would LOVE to dive, but have medical reasons why you can’t? Have you ever considered snorkeling? No? Well – I’m here to tell […]
Hey everybody, so you might have seen my other blog post about getting an Open Water certification. (If not, you can find it here: https://www.oceanloverstaganga.com/why-you-should-become-a-certified-open-water-diver/). In that post, I explained how diving for the first time was like being an astronaut exploring new planets. Are you an Open Water Diver? Have you already seen a […]
I remember the first time I saw a lionfish. It was beautiful. It’s quite a stunning fish – striped grey and red and then it has feathery spines (18) that fan out from its body. I was mesmerized by its presence, as I’m sure other fish are. But, had I known just how dangerous that […]
Did you ever had an urge to explore the ocean from another point of view than from the outside of the aquarium? To be able to swim with every kind of underwater species together, and not simply standing beside them, watching their weightlessness? It`s like little astronauts flying in their own universe. I had the […]
Ocean conservation week is right around the corner. It starts on September 17th. I am excited that I’ve gotten to be involved in a bit of the planning process – as I have subsequently learned a lot about the ocean’s health. I don’t know about you – but, I’ve always loved diving. I thought I […]
After completing the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Ocean Lovers, I soon returned home to Texas, but there was one thing that I could not get out of my mind – and that was returning to Taganga in order to continue learning and diving in the beautiful waters of Tayrona National Park with […]
