Discover Scuba Diving

Overview

If you are not a certified diver or have never been diving before, you can try it today and enjoy the incredible underwater world. Taganga is a great place to experience your very first breaths under water and see the wonders of Tayrona national park.

Program structure

After checking in at the dive center, your instructor will give you an introduction to the basics of the dive theory. In this briefing you will learn how to use your equipment, what to expect underwater, rules to keep you safe and the skills you will learn. Then we go by boat to Tayrona national park and practice in confined water the use of scuba equipment. Once you have mastered the skills and feel confident, you will explore together with your instructor the underwater world.

We offer the Discover Scuba Diving program on our morning boat trip and on our afternoon boat trip.

Prerequisites

To sign up for this program you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health.

Open Water Diver Course

Get your PADI –the world’s most-recognized scuba diving certification and your passport to recreational scuba diving adventures around the globe.

Overview

With the PADI Open Water Diver course you get your first level certification in recreational scuba diving. You will learn basic dive theory, practice equipment use and make four open water dives. Upon completion of this course you are certified to dive up to 18m / 60ft and have a life-long certification to discover a whole new world.

Theory

Before you get into the water you will learn basic dive theory with the PADI e-learning App and watch the course videos in the comfort of your place of choice. The video will explain the theory and preview skills you practice during the course in confined water (lagoon or pool). To complete the theory you have to answer knowledge reviews, fill in some quizzes and pass a final single-choice exam.

Pool Training

About half a day you spend to get familiar with the equipment you use for scuba diving. You will learn how to set up, check and take care of it, and practice in confined water to be confident using it.

Open Water Dives

During the course you will complete four open water dives in the Tayrona National Park. The first two dives are to a maximum depth of 12m / 40ft while the final two to maximum 18m / 60ft.

Prerequisites
